Mumbai, impotent politicians and lousy rights activists

Time we kicked politicians and caned social elites who sob in name of human rights As I step into a quiet Saturday, I feel a queer discomfort. The spectacle of death and devastation in Mumbai last three days has left me gasping. I am anguished. I bow my head in shame for inheriting a wretched breed of politicians – or shall I call them impotent and lousy scoundrels – whose bickering and myopia has made us all vulnerable; whose despicable apathy has made the country and its innocent people a perennial target of terrorists. Yet again it’s apparent we as a nation can never learn from our mistakes. I have grown sick of the knee-jerk and clichéd responses from politicians. They miss no time in showing up on television channels and can’t say beyond what is by now so routine for us all to hear. They engage in rhetoric and make promises as if there is no tomorrow, not to forget the generous grants they declare for the devastated families of deceased and disabled. Stop this you rotten thugs. We can take it no longer. Can we also request the byte-hungry television journalists to stop panting after these idiots called politicians? Not so long ago on September 13 when I had seen terror from close quarters when a bomb exploded right below my office on Barakhamba Road in New Delhi’s Connaught Place area, I had begun to severely suspect the abilities of the present government in tackling the internal security situation. The Mumbai carnage has left little by way of doubt. It’s apparent this is a feeble bunch of union ministers at the helms now whose primary motive is to secure their seats till the time the present government is in power and make merry, people be damned. I am certain this November 26-29 episode too would get drowned in other mundane cacophony of our routine lives. Politicians would be back in business. TV journos would continue to run after them. And though they are drowned with a mysterious silence, the social elites and rights activists too would be back in business. I am ashamed at the abhorring hypocrisy of Indian socialites and elites – many of them cried hoarse after the Batla House encounter in Delhi post September 13 serial blasts and asked for probes beating their chests. Some political parties including the Congress too tried to gain whatever mileage it could out of the Batla Encounter brouhaha. What a shame. Where are you, you hypocrites, you mischievous sprites? You have seen this time as well innocent being killed – and look at the swing of fate, they were more like you than the bus-goers in Delhi. Will you again question the veracity of the encounter following the mayhem at Taj and Oberois? Will you still give those measured, mugged up bytes on television channels in your made-up husky voices? Will you still go and hold phony demonstrations on Jantar Mantar in Delhi with your drug-induced followers? Will you continue to drool at the idea of a photo opportunity? Will you still question why Army men get 24 eggs as ration and get pampered by the nation? Will you continue to be as shameless as you have ever been in the name of Human Rights? In my humble opinions all you awful foolhardy socialites and elites should be dispatched to Karachi in the same boat which the terrorists used to make a gateway through the Gateway of India. The lousy politicians will follow. And we shall be much happier without you.

** There is so much to write about on Mumbai Mayhem. I shall continue to pour my thoughts as they shape up. I would like to congratulate Arnab Goswami and Rahul Shivsankar of Times Now and their team for doing a commendable job. You all were so measured, so guarded and so sharp with your details, the three days video should be made a case study in classic reporting for generation of journalism students. I am sure Arnab would have made some kind of a history in television by being on the anchor chair for longest number of hours.

That’s true Sir, even when the country passes through the pain and anguish from terror attacks one after the other…the so called leaders of our country tries to politicize and blame each other. At such awful moment, Mr Narendra Modi goes to Mumbai, not to show sympathy but only to criticize the Prime Minister and his ideologies. He even went to the extent to abuse the death of the ATS Chief, Hemant Karkhare..offering his family monetary relief. The politicians of our country are a bunch of junks and self centric idiots who just care about their respective powers. The only thing they can do is to divide the country on the basis of religion, caste, language, etc…so as to fetch them votes. All they know is to manipulate these votebanks. But enough is enough…I fully agree with noted columnist Shoba De..that it is high time to take accountability. There cannot be simply platitudes.. When an organisation falls, the Chief Executive is responsible, when the state administrative machinery fails in our country, is there anybody to take the responsibility? There is no proper system..corruption all around…the appointments are controlled politically, education system corrupted.. citizens are left at “ bhagwan bharosey” simply be a witness to the meticulously orchestrated terror plans and later succumb to it. The state chief minister, Shri Vilasrao Deshmukh seems least affected. Today it happened in Mumbai…tomorrow it can be in Delhi / Bangalore / Chennai or even in smaller cities Varanasi, Lucknow or Guwahati… (While there were serial blasts in Guwahati last month, killing hundreds of people, the Chief Minister says “we were expecting a blast with a smaller impact, we are taken by surprise”. I would like to mention that since last twenty or more years, the region faced lot many attacks and even today the state leader is taken by surprise...what an irony.) .. I also wonder what Mr. Raj Thackeray and his brave Sena doing now…probably making move to drive out the non-marathi manoos…

All kudos to the Indian Security Force (NSG & the Marcos) and the media men; special mention to Rajdeep Sardesai & his team.. to give us the live coverage and take us through 59 odd hours. Hats off to you!!!

Everyone in the country is angry with the breed called politicians. But, what is the option? It's an evil with which you have to live.

Let us all demand that the politicians, if they are true representatives of people, should not be scared of these very people and they should mix with people without having those gun men behind them….Yes there should be a general security cover for everyone including the politicians. But, why should we deploy the trained policemen or commandos to guard these politicians.
Who are they scared of??? People??? Or is it terrorists???
If it is people, the politician no more qualifies to be called a people's representative, and if they are scared of a terrorist, so are we….!!
There is no need for the politician to get any additional security and he should be treated on par with a common man when it comes to security. If the country is safe and secured as the politicians are claiming today, then demand for withdrawal of the gun men immediately.

Its terrific to see the transfigure in the channels' approach specially Times Now, Lets not overlook it this time. Wot say u allllllllll???

Nagging about the miserable politics wont help...........
Every individual must contribute in their own way for this particular terror incident...
A good deed is twice powerful as prayer. I am sure God will answer our prayers and bring justice to Mumbai.

Ask these politicians to move around without their gun men at least for one month. Why should the tax payer spend his money on guarding the mortal bodies of these politicians? What is their contribution to the nation which makes them so valuable?

I think one should file a PIL or throw an open challenge to the politicians on this issue….Phew!!
I agree with the other comments...Accolades to Times Now...!!

Fellow friend thinks on these line...in the upcoming assembly election the core agenda of oposition is National Security. They have been talking from day one about Pota and Moca. Dear all these agenda were created not to secure us but to secure their seats and power. Blast in Banglore,Ahmedabad,Rajasthan....connect with the agenda...it has taken influenced our opinion and for the good many got exposed. Our so called leaders again playing gimmick and want to divert our openinion towards war and pakistan involvement.......which they have been doing ........i want to ask everyone how many of you remember the number of caualties happened in delhi, banglore and Ahmedabad blast...i guess we have almost forgotten. Friends we will forget this too.We should not give message to this dirty breed of politicians that we Indians are brave and we will comeup from this shock ....it has to be felt inside and lets send them the message we want there report cards.
Achutanand said had it been martyrs house even dog would have not visited his house...mind you mr CM you would have showed Dog treatment if you would have not been CM.Mr RR Patil said such things happen in big cities i guess its time to teach lessons so that they thinks end number of times before they comment and open their mouth full of shits.Mr Modi defying the protocol and commenting on PM's speech and offering monetary relief ....where these money has come from.....we pay taxes, fees, and fine ....lets ask these income tax and related department why our money is used like this and why its not used for genuine purpose.I personally feel we should not pay tax anymore. We have contributed enough to run the country the way its running and lot left to spend the way Mr Modi has intended to and many more of such types. So friends think muct but we have to react just....

Much has been heard, seen, spoken and said. So much that I spend these days pinching myself to not go comfortably numb about the 26/11episode. Unfortunately the world if it has its success stories, it is also stricken with deluges time to time. Many even natural.

Shashee, I am glad to agree with you that Times Now was impactful and Arnab is my favourite too these days. Through his discussion pannels across Islamabad to London he brought to to my vent some real incinerating issues that a overtly-busy-sensible-sensitive mind (pun intended) so easily dismisses as gossip that does not affect his daily doings.

I am not in rage anymore though. It is clear that everyone is equally, some even more equally to be blamed. For the very fact that we took our own politics and surroundings for granted. We always do that. A simple e.g. would be of how we love to litter any public space.

Times keep changing...though nothing can change in a wiff of anguish or some reaction but to see one's ego bloat up to burst in one tired working day. I just hope that instead of claiming our thoughts helter-skelter...epecially the educated lot must start voting to begin with. We will then create an aggressive demand within ourselves. And where there is demand there will be the right or wrong people reaching out to us. We yet have a choice.

i just loved the idea of deporting our respectable guardians of democracy to karachi in a boat. However we must remember that organising rallies and lighting candles is not the only solution.Im sure we were all surprised to hear our Prime minister address the nation in an extreme monotonous and demotivating tone. If during times of national emergency, our leaders cannot even stand up and motivate its citizens to stand up fearlessly, we need to think over.So lets just bid Bon Vovage to these leaders.

Yes what you have said is absolutely true but I think the commoner is also at fault .WE ARE SIMPLY NOT PATRIOTIC ENOUGH.WE QUESTION THE ARMY DONOT PAY THEM WELL DONOT EVEN REALISE THAT IT IS BECAUSE OF THEM THAT WE SLEEP PEACEFULLY AT NIGHT .
What all has been said at the aftermath of the Malegaon blast. And what an ugly media coverage of the Malegaon blast probe, even Pakisthan is taking a dig at us for that.If they have their way they might even prove that the that it has been done by the Indian army itself. The media has to be discerning .
AS far as times now is concerned well Rahul shiv shankar was simply great AND SO WAS MAHRUK INAYAT .The coverage was great but that served the purpose of the terrorist too I SUPPOSE
